MUSICA SARMATICA

This CD tells the story of Sarmatia. You have a chance to listen to the tales told by wellknown songs, as well as the anonymous pieces of Polish Sarmatian.
„Musica Sarmatica” is divided into the following parts in chronological order:

1. ‘Złoty czas srebrnego wieku Rzeczpospolitej’ (‘The golden period of the Silver Age of the Republic of Poland’)
It consists of works created when the Republic of Poland was at it’s peak of power; when it was the goal of emigration of people from different parts of Europe, where the nobilities enjoyed freedom never before seen in other countries.
2. ‘Lutnia, na frasunki i troski...’ (‘Lute, the cure for worries and concerns ...’)
It is devoted to the instrument, which was among Sarmatian’s favorite activities along with poetry.
3. ‘Od Rzymu do Wersalu’ (‘From Rome to Versailles’)
It shows the presence and popularity of Western music in the XVIIth century Republic of Poland.
4. ‘Nieprzyjaciel w granicach’ (‘Enemies crossed a border’)
It refers to the wars of the mid-seventeenth century, defense of Częstochowa, a confederation of armed noblemen, separations, longing and grief for the dead.
5. ‘Tryumf Sarmacji – Victoria Jana III Sobieskiego’ (‘Triumph of Sarmatia – King’s John III Sobieski victory’)
There are images from the times of the reign of the most meritorious ruler of Sarmatia ever had, King John III Sobieski. From burlesque and the merry dance in the lively tavern, on through the dilemmas of love, French music played not only in theRoyal Palace in Wilanów but to the sounds of war siege of Vienna.
6. ‘Sarmackie ostatki, czyli muzyka we dworze’ (‘Sarmatian remnant, that is music in the manor’)
It conceals the charms of life in the noble house: love, courtship, patriotic and historical teachings given to the children, perennial mothers worry about their daughters, and a feast ends with a polonaise.
